Life at CRI in COVID Mode - Screening

15 avril 2021

There have been many changes in the daily lives of our employees since the beginning of the global COVID-19 pandemic! We would like to acknowledge the exceptional work of our nursing staff, both in Montreal and at the mine site, as well as the valuable collaboration of our employees since the beginning. Our nursing staff who work in Montreal and who do the screening tests before the flight of the workers to our mining site explains a part of their daily life:

‘’ First of all, a nurse makes a pre-manifest call two or three days before the flight, asking questions about the health status [...]. On the day of the flight, the workers arrive at the hotel, there are two waiting rooms with chairs placed two meters away [...]. They receive a kit of three surgical masks. Then, they are screened at both sites (nasal and oropharyngeal, i.e. nose and throat) by a nurse. […]. The COVID-19 tests are quickly sent to the Montreal laboratory as soon as the sampling is finished, with all the measures taken for the proper conservation of the samples: cooler, thermometers, biohazard bags... Finally, before the departure of the employees, the nurses give a reminder speech on precautionary measures and infection prevention. All employees are screened a second time at the mine site on day 7, to detect those who may have tested negative on the day of the flight, but whose viral load may have increased enough to be detected a week after arrival. '' - Alina Giniyevska, Montreal Nurse

''We work together every morning, with pleasure and always in a good mood. Communication, team spirit and organization are the key to our good functioning'' - Evelyne Dupuis, Montreal Nurse

‘’I'm on the COVID committee and we meet every Friday morning. There is one person representing each department. We discuss, among other things, the preventive measures in place, upcoming changes, INSPQ and government requests and things we would like to improve to make it even safer for COVID. […] We determine the priorities and make sure to communicate them well, with transparency and benevolence for the good functioning of the company and for the health and safety of our workers.’’ - Géraldine Faugas, Montreal Nurse
